Sweet Birthday Wishes

If you are like me, there is always a need for birthday cards, so I am sharing the latest one I created for a friend.

The Floral Wreath image from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps was colored with Tombow markers.  The yellow card background was created with a die cut and then layered on Persimmon cardstock.  To create more dimension I chose to die cut a window and layer this over the image.  The same circle die and a slightly larger scalloped circle die were used to create the border around the window.  If you wanted a less labor intensive version, you could simply die cut the image with a circle die and layer on a scalloped die cut and add to the card front.  I also chose to have the bow at the top of the floral wreath.

The JFF sentiment, Sweet Birthday Wishes, was stamped in black on a hand cut banner and layered across the image.  This helped fill the open window without covering up to much of the lovely floral wreath.  I think I will be using versions of this card more often.

Have a great week.

Autumn Greetings

With all the Black Friday craziness, everyone around me is moving on with Christmas prep.  I am still enjoying my turkey and the lovely fall look surrounding my neighborhood.  Before I move on I have one more fall card to share.

I have had the thought and design of this card in the back of my mind for a while and finally had some time to create it.  The new Modern Leaf from Just For Fun was stamped repeatedly with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on cream cardstock, then added to layers of brown and gold.  The same image was heat embossed in gold on fall colors of cardstock and fussy cut.  These were tucked around the Autumn Greetings sentiment, from JFF's The Seasons Word Block, and at the bottom.

Love the simplicity of this card with the pop of color.

Just For Fun November Challenge

Just For Fun Rubber Stamps has a new challenge for the month of November.  Use the colors “Brown, Orange, and Red”.

I decided to share a Thanksgiving card since this holiday doesn’t get a lot of attention and I really enjoy it.  Two of Just For Fun’s new stamps, Harvest Bundle and Wild Turkey, were used.  The Harvest Bundle was stamped with Peanut Butter Memento Ink on cream cardstock.  The edges were sponged with more Peanut Butter ink and some Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.  The orange and brown layers were also sponged on the edges with Rich Cocoa and Morocco ink.

The turkey was stamped with Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers.  After fussy cutting, it was popped up on the card front.  The JFF sentiment, Happy Thanksgiving, was stamped with Morocco ink in the top corner.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Blog for all the challenge details and more “Brown, Orange, and Red” inspiration.

Just For Fun August Challenge

When you work for the school district and August sneaks up, you start trying to figure out where your summer went and what else you can squeeze in before the school year starts.  Definitely time for one more trip to the beach.

With the beginning of August, a new challenge at the Just For Fun Blog also begins.  Our team chose the perfect challenge theme for this month – Hot, Hot, Hot!  I can so relate to this as I am sitting in my house waiting for them to come install my new air conditioner.  I am also excited to spend time with my daughters at the beach soon, so that is what my card is all about.

Awhile back fellow designer, April Williams, showed me a colorful technique with embossing folders.  I used one of my samples to create the sunny background for this card.  I added various layers and a die cut with lots of open sections.  Then I added my stamped images and sentiment.  The flip flops, beach chair, and sunglasses all come from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Beach Unmounted Sheet.  The sentiment is from their The Seasons Word Block.  I also added a few jewels.  Not sure if they are water droplets or sweat.

We would love to have you enter this new challenge.  You can find all the details and the link, along with more inspiration on the Just For Fun Blog.

Just For Fun May Challenge

May has arrived and with it comes a new challenge at the Just For Fun blog.  The theme this month is A Mother’s Love.  This is perfect for all those Mother’s Day cards you are working on.

I used Just For Fun’s Mother is Born image and sentiment on my card.  I started by creating a soft pastel background, using Zig Water Color Markers on my craft mat, spritzing with water, and smooshing my cardstock in the ink.  When the cardstock dried, the image was stamped in the center with Memento Ink.  This was layered behind a white frame, die cut with a Sue Wilson Designs die.

A layer of bright pink, silk flowers, and small pearls were added.

I hope you can join the challenge.  See all the details at the JFF Blog.

Soda Shop Sweets

Have you seen all the sweet treat images recently released by Just For Fun Rubber Stamps?  They remind me of the goodies my grandfather used to buy me at the old soda shop in our little town, so I decided to create a card with that theme.

The card is a Twist Gate Fold Card.  My friend, April Williams, shared this with me recently and you can find a tutorial here.  I used three coordinating cardstocks to layer on the different sections, sponging all the edges with pink or grey ink.  Sheer mint ribbon was used to tie it shut.

JFF's Hot Fudge Sundae is layered on the front.  It was colored with markers and then layered on mint and black cs.

When opened, their Root Beer Float and Vanilla Shake are revealed.  These were also colored with markers and layered on mint and black and The Best Things in Life sentiment was added.

This was a fun card to make with these cute images.  Check out all their new images here.
