Needed - Beach and Lottery Ticket

Any teachers out there that have recently returned to work?  I know you can totally relate to the card I am sharing today.

I created the background using some new Oxide Distress Inks, lightly spritzed with water on a craft sheet.  The color was picked up with a piece of cardstock, drying in between layers.  This piece was trimmed and layered on green and blue.

The Hammock in Palms image, from Just For Fun, was stamped in black on top of the background and colored with Tombow Markers.  The image was stamped a second time on white cardstock and the leaves were colored and fussy cut.  They were slightly curved and popped up over the first image.  This gave it some great dimension.

I used a fun JFF sentiment, Needed Immediately..., stamping it in a “beachy” color and layering it on green.

Teachers, we probably will feel more like this later in the school year, but it is always a good time to be at the beach.

Sunset and Shells

E. Marie here, posting a card of the beach.  I just spent some time at the beach with my daughters and had such a wonderful time.  I wanted this card to show everything I love about the beach – the beautiful colors of the sunset over the ocean and walking in the sand gathering shells.  Distress Oxide Inks were used to provide all the coloring by picking up a mixture of the spritzed inks from a craft sheet on kraft cardstock several times.

Once the cardstock was dry the main image, Tropical Sunset from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps, was heat embossed in black on a rectangular piece and added to layers of black and pink.  The bird and shells, from JFF's Beach Unmounted Sheet were also embossed in black on lighter colored scraps and fussy cut.

These were popped up along the bottom of the card and the JFF sentiment, To Watch A Sunset..., was stamped in black at the top.

The color on the card was so fun to create and a perfect background for these images.

Just For Fun August Challenge

When you work for the school district and August sneaks up, you start trying to figure out where your summer went and what else you can squeeze in before the school year starts.  Definitely time for one more trip to the beach.

With the beginning of August, a new challenge at the Just For Fun Blog also begins.  Our team chose the perfect challenge theme for this month – Hot, Hot, Hot!  I can so relate to this as I am sitting in my house waiting for them to come install my new air conditioner.  I am also excited to spend time with my daughters at the beach soon, so that is what my card is all about.

Awhile back fellow designer, April Williams, showed me a colorful technique with embossing folders.  I used one of my samples to create the sunny background for this card.  I added various layers and a die cut with lots of open sections.  Then I added my stamped images and sentiment.  The flip flops, beach chair, and sunglasses all come from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Beach Unmounted Sheet.  The sentiment is from their The Seasons Word Block.  I also added a few jewels.  Not sure if they are water droplets or sweat.

We would love to have you enter this new challenge.  You can find all the details and the link, along with more inspiration on the Just For Fun Blog.
