The Simple Wild Rose

A rose is one of my favorite flowers and since I am in Omaha right now, visiting with my mother, I am really enjoying all her roses.  She has so many bushes and even climbing roses.  She also has some lovely pink wild roses.  There is something about their delicate look that is so appealing.  I tried to tie that into today’s card featuring Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Wild Rose set and simple white layers with elegant lines.

I started with a white layer with the right side punched by a border punch.  A piece of sticker paper was layered behind it and Ballerina Velvet Glitter was added.  This was layered on the white card base.

The Wild Rose image was stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink on watercolor paper and colored with Zig Watercolor Markers.  The sentiment was stamped beneath the image and this was die cut with a Spellbinders’ Labels Seventeen Etched Die and layered on top of a slightly larger white die cut and added to the card front.  Dots of Sunny Daze Glitter was added to the flower centers, using a glue pen.

Along with this lovely floral image, this set comes with four sentiments making it great to use for a variety of occasions.

Coffee = Success

Ok, here is my last “coffee” themed card for the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop featuring Sparkle N Sprinkle products.

For this card I used Sparkle N Sprinkles’ Birds of a Feather Digital Stamp Set with this sweet little chick.  After printing, I colored it with Tombow Markers.  I layered it on sticker paper and added Sunny Daze Glitter to the remaining exposed adhesive.  Then I ran a glue pen around the edge of the cardstock and added Coffee Embossing Powder.  Since I was traveling light on this trip, I did not have my heat tool so I could not heat set it.  I really liked how it looked - almost like coffee.

The little coffee cup in the chick’s hand and on the background paper, along with the sentiment, are from Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Coffee Time Digital Stamp Set.  These were also layered and glittered/embossed like the sweet chick image.

This was such a fun theme and I hope you enjoyed the cards.

Here I am again with another coffee themed card for the Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop, featuring Sparkle N Sprinkle products.  I will apologize right away for the picture.  As mentioned before, I visiting at my mom’s, with is almost 20 hours from home, and I can’t seem to find a good place to get pics.  I even had my brother do some for me and something went wrong because they all came out blue. 

Enough about the pictures!  This card is featuring Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Espresso Yourself digital stamp set.  I printed the cup out twice, and after coloring with Tombow markers, I fussy cut one full cup and then just the corrugated cardboard holder on the second.  I layered the holder on top of the original to give a little depth.  I cut out the sentiment in a circle to layer on top.  Then I ran a glue pen around it and added Bronze Splendor glitter. 

For the background layer, I ran strips of 1/4” "Tear-ific"  Tape slightly apart and added a strip of floral paper in the center.  Then I added Ocean Surge glitter to the remaining exposed adhesive.  I repeated this two more times.  Next 1/8” "Tear-ific" Tape strips were run between these and Bronze Splendor glitter was added.

What's Brewing?

Coffee Loving Cardmakers is having their summer blog hop so true coffee lovers are inspired to share their passion.  How could I resist posting my latest coffee card – What’s Brewing?

I used Just For Fun Rubber Stamps’ Cafe' image, stamping it with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on top of the same designer paper I used for a background layer.  Then I added subtle color with Copic markers, using more of a flicked brush affect.   

The sentiment, What's Brewing, and the coffee bean border from the Coffee Unmounted Sheet, both from Just For Fun, were both stamped on a second designer paper and all was layered on brown.

I spritzed a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink with water on my craft sheet and used a lid to stamp some coffee rings on top of the whole card.  Then I also added some splatters.  Did you know there is a new Distress Ink called Ground Espresso?  I know I need that!

Since I am off for the summer, I am posting from Omaha, NE where I am visiting my mother, and other family members.  It has been extremely hot here but mom and I still have our coffee together each morning and afternoon and are taking lots of time to catch up.

Love You Latte!

I am a coffee drinker and I love to have a cup first thing in the morning.  Even in the summer!  My little kindergartners always tell me I smell like coffee and I seem to get a lot of coffee gift cards from them.  I carry my mug around a lot, but I think it is more of a comfort thing than that I actually drink that much coffee.  I actually used left over coffee to stamp on today’s card, along with stamps from Just For Fun.

I started with layers of blue, cream, white, and brown.  Then I used my cup and dipped it in coffee and stamped some rings across the layers.  Some of it ran a bit which added some puddle marks.  I let this dry and stamped the sentiment, A Latte, in red.  I heat embossed the coffee beans from the Coffee Unmounted Sheet, cut them out, and layered them on the card.  The picture makes them look different colors but it must just be the angle.

The main image is Latte' Love, which was heat embossed.  I lightly water colored this, but actually painted the brown sections with coffee and added a few coffee splatters.  I stamped the heart from the image a second time, embossing with red, cut it out and layered it on top.  To create the foam, I used Dimensional Glue and Twinkling Clouds Sparkle N Soft flocking.  Looks almost good enough to drink.
