A True Classic

My husband is a car lover – especially antique Buicks.  With Father’s Day on the way and his birthday next week, I decided I had the perfect stamp to use.

For this card I used 1905 Buick Model C from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I stamped it with Versamark ink on tan cardstock and embossed it with Log Cabin Embossing Powder, also from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I distressed the edges and sponged them with light brown ink to give it a bit of an aged look.  I used foam tape to pop it onto brown cardstock that also had the edges distressed and then I ran Versamark ink along the edges and dipped them in the Log Cabin Embossing Powder.

The next layer is a deep blue that I embossed with an embossing folder and sponged dark blue ink on the edges.  I layered this onto another rectangle of brown cardstock that also had Versamark and Log Cabin embossing powder on the edges.  This is all layered onto a tan card base.

For final touches I embossed triangles of dark brown cardstock with an embossing folder, sponged the edges with black, and used foam tape to pop them onto each corner of the blue layer.  I also embossed and sponged black ink onto a dark brown 1” strip, then added some very sparkly brown ribbon with gold edges on each side of the strip.  I ran this down the center of the card under the image and added two dark blue pearls on each end.

I was very happy with this card but the hubby decided to peek into my craft room and immediately saw the car image so guess I won’t surprise him.  Might have to make another card.  By the way, here is a fun fact about my family.  My husband and I have the same birthday in June and are four years apart.  Both of our daughters have the same birthday in December and are four years apart.  They shared their birthday with my mother-in-law and her mother shared her birthday with 2 of her grandchildren.  Can this be a hereditary trait?
