Beach and Coffee

Happy Memorial Day.  So many families are spending this long weekend at the beach so I thought I would create a card with a beach theme.  It is also time for the 2018 Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop so I mixed it up with a coffee theme, too.  Coffee is a vital part of my relaxing weekend.

I used the Coffee Background from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  It was inked with various Distress Inks to coordinate with the colors I planned to use for the sunset.  This was stamped first and then the same colors were sponged on top.  Darker blue and brown were sponged around the edges.

JFF's Adirondack Sunset image was stamped in brown twice.  The first image was sponged with Distress Inks to coordinate with the Coffee background.  On the second image the sun was sponged with Distress Ink and the chair was colored with Copic Markers.  These were both fussy cut and layered onto the inked image.

Using dark brown Memento Ink, the “May your day be filled...” sentiment from JFF was stamped on a white rectangle.  Distress Inks were sponged over and around it.  It was layered on blue, along with the Adirondack Sunset Image and then layered on top of the Coffee Background.  A small Sizzix coffee cup was die cut, sponged with ink, and added with fiber.

Have a wonderful week.

A Friend Knows The Song

I hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day and was able to spend some time with family.  Today I want to share one more card using Want 2 Scrap chipboard embellishments.  Since these Style E pieces have such a lovely swirl, I wanted this card to be light and elegant.  I started with light pink layered on white and then added a white oval die cut with Spellbinders’ Oval Majesty 4.

The chipboard swirls were covered with Versamark Ink and then Lana Pink Embossing Powder was added and heat set.  This process was repeated to provide good coverage.

The sentiment, from Sparkle N Springkle’s Beautiful Friendship set, was stamped with Versamark Ink and heat set with Pear Star Embossing Powder.  This was layered behind a white die, cut with Spellbinders’ medium size Fleur de Elegance #3 die and layered over the chipboard pieces.  The rose, also from the Beautiful Friendship set, was stamped in brown with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers.  It was fussy cut and added to the card front, after adding a small touch of Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter, using a glue pen.

Thank you for stopping by!

A Bird With A Song

My card today combines Want 2 Scrap chipboard and a sentiment from the Sparkle N Sprinkle's Birdsong Stamp Set.  I have always thought chipboard was more for scrapbooking layouts, but really love what it adds to a card.

I created a template using a Spellbinders’ Circle Nestability Die.  This was layered on the cardfront and the circular area was covered with Versamark Ink and then heat set with Candlelight Embossing Powder.  The Small Bird Flourish chipboard was also covered with Versamark Ink, then Poolside Embossing Powder, and heat set.  It was adhered over the embossed circle.

The sentiment was heat embossed with Candlelight EP and then Versamark Ink was added to the outer edges of the card front and more Candlelight EP added and heat set.  The second layer is also heat embossed along the edges but this time I covered more area and used Poolside EP.  Because this embossing powder is semi-translucent, it appears lighter on white cardstock than on the chipboard.

I did case this from a similar style card I saw on line. I thought I pinned it so I could give credit but now I can't find it anywhere.  If you think it was you, please let me know so I can recognize your work.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.
