Winter Cardinal

Even though the weather by me has been really nice, we ended up with cold rain and a little ice this weekend.  Perfect time to share a winter card.  The Large Cardinal stamp, from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps, was used on this card and even though this is in their Christmas themed images, it can be used for so much more.

A white, embossed background was created to show off this brightly colored cardinal.  It was colored with Copic markers and die cut with Spellbinders’ Label 4.  After adding to the card front, it was surrounded by additional die cut/punched snowflakes and a simple sentiment (from JFF's Sentiments 1 Unmounted Sheet).  This card is perfect for this time of the year but can be used for any occasion – Birthday, Get Well, Sympathy - by simply changing the sentiment.

Have a wonderful week.

Just For Fun November Challenge

Just For Fun Rubber Stamps has a new challenge for the month of November.  Use the colors “Brown, Orange, and Red”.

I decided to share a Thanksgiving card since this holiday doesn’t get a lot of attention and I really enjoy it.  Two of Just For Fun’s new stamps, Harvest Bundle and Wild Turkey, were used.  The Harvest Bundle was stamped with Peanut Butter Memento Ink on cream cardstock.  The edges were sponged with more Peanut Butter ink and some Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.  The orange and brown layers were also sponged on the edges with Rich Cocoa and Morocco ink.

The turkey was stamped with Rich Cocoa ink and colored with Copic Markers.  After fussy cutting, it was popped up on the card front.  The JFF sentiment, Happy Thanksgiving, was stamped with Morocco ink in the top corner.

Head on over to the Just For Fun Blog for all the challenge details and more “Brown, Orange, and Red” inspiration.

Just For Fun May Challenge

Wow!  Hard to believe it is already May.  With this new month comes a new challenge at Just For Fun Blog.  The theme for May is

Most of my cards usually use more than one stamp so this was fun for me.

I chose to use two coordinating stamps, Standing Crane and Wading Crane.  These were stamped in black on red cardstock.  After cutting them out, they were layered on red and black cardstock.

The background was created by running a piece of red cardstock through an embossing folder and rubbing black ink on the raised area.  This was added to a piece of designer cardstock and a layer of black.

Most of my cards usually use more than one stamp.  I can’t wait to see what you create with this challenge.  Get all the challenge details on the JFF Blog.

Grey Heron at Waters Edge

When I visit my daughter, we have a favorite restaurant we like to go to.  We ask to sit by the window so we can watch the waterway.  We always see lot of wildlife, including many seabirds.  Today's card uses images and dies with a seabird theme and also uses one of my favorite color combos – blue and kraft.

This card features the Grey Heron at Waters Edge from Just For Fun.  This image was stamped with Faded Jeans Distress Ink on the upper section of a piece of light blue cardstock.  Vintage Photo Distress Ink was sponged around the edges.

A torn piece of kraft paper, sponged with ink on the edges, was layered on the bottom.  JFF's The Voice of the Sea sentiment was stamped in Vintage Photo in the bottom left corner.  Two of the birds from Memory Box’s Elegant Shorebirds dies were cut from dark blue cardstock and added to the right corner.  This was all layered on dark blue and the white card base.

There is still time to enter JFF's May Challenge with the theme “A Mother’s Love”.  Get the details here.

Have a great week.

Girls' Night

I have a simple, fun card to share, using Just For Fun stamps.  The minute I saw the Funky Toucans set, I had to have them because they looked so cute and fun.  I knew just what I wanted to do with them.

They were stamped in black and, after coloring with copics, they were fussy cut.  Then they were layered on a scalloped oval that was run through an embossing folder.  I added a mix of pears, jewels, and a sticker to dress up the birds.

This Girls Night saying goes so well with this and was stamped in Rose Bud Memento ink along the card bottom.

Speaking of “girls”, don’t forget about JFF's current monthly challenge with the theme of “Let’s Hear It For The Girls”.  Get all the details on the JFF Blog here.

Have a fantastic week.
