I have been playing with my vellum lately and really love it. I have a drawer full of different vellum colors and weights but I don’t pull it out very often. It is the perfect element to use when wanting a delicate or elegant look. It also is stunning when used with my frame stamps from Sweet Stamps.
This is one of those cards that just keeps changing. The card base was originally a standard cream card but ended up as a larger peachy card. I found this absolutely gorgeous cardstock from Graphic 45 at Scrapbook Creations the last time I visited and knew I wanted to use it. The next layer is using the back of this cardstock, sponging the edges with black and addingsome beautiful cream lace around it.
I stamped and embossed my frame in white on vellum. Knowing it would be layered over the dark background, I decided to put it on sticker paper for a backing. Thank goodness I realized this before I had cut out very much because I would not have wanted to do it twice. This also made it possible to use dimensionals to pop it up on the front of the card without any adhesive showing. The image is actually cut out with a Spellbinder oval die from the front of the paper and added to the middle of the card. This is what inspired the colors used on this card. It was perfect for a wedding card but also kind of reminded me of a scene from “Gone With The Wind”.
For embellishment I added a rose colored bow, cream paper roses, and pink and cream pearls. I have to admit that I made at least 4 different bows, using different colors and sized, and then decided on something much simpler than I had originally planned.
Ok, for those of you reading my blog I am going to ask an opinion – and I want you to be honest about what you think. You will not hurt my feelings. Sometimes you add something to a card and then aren’t quite sure you like how you did it. Since I do not have one of my wonderful buddies here to ask, I will ask you. I love pearls but was not sure if the pearls really added to it or looked more “spotty”. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
