Heard By Word of Mouse

House Mouse stamps are one of my favorite stamps to collect.  The problem is I add them to my stamp shelf but never seem to use them.  I did not even realize how little I used them until I set up my stamp room in my new house and they sit almost right in front of my craft table.  Now they catch my eye more often and I try to reach for them more, especially when I want something a bit more “cute”.  Who can resist them?

I know so many people that have birthdays this month that I decided I better make a few more birthday cards.  This House Mouse image is perfect for what I wanted.  I used a Spellbinder label die to cut out the card, using a white card base but covering it with pink polka dot cardstock cut out with the same die.  Before attaching it to the card base, I ran some wide yellow satin ribbon around it, tying it in a bow on the front.  I don’t use a lot of wide satin ribbon but had seen so many beautiful bows with it lately. I had just bought this and decided to try something new.

I stamped the image in black and colored it with my Tomboy markers.  I wanted lots of bright colors.  I used dimensionals to pop it to the front after cutting it out with a smaller label die and sponging the edges with blue ink.  I used a Sizzix die to cut out my tag from light pink cardstock and stamped the sentiment on the front in bright blue.  The “5th” is not part of the original sentiment – I added it with some letter and number stamps.  I sponged a bit of pink ink around the edges and attached it to the front of my bow and popped a homemade flower to the top.  To add a bit of bling, I added blue jewels across the top and one in the middle of the flower.

Not sure who I will send this to but I can’t think of a better way to say Happy Birthday than by word of mouse, especially an adorable House Mouse.
