Masculine Christmas

Tomorrow night is our local stamp club's Christmas party.  This is always a lot of fun.  We also have a card exchange due.  The theme is masking/masculine.

I really wanted to use a new stamp I got from Our Daily Bread Designs and use a sketch from Simon Says.  I used white glossy cardstock and temporarily adhered a small punched circle.  Then I sponged on distress inks in yellow, orange, red, blue, and then black.  I removed the circle and sponged on a little more yellow.  Then I buffed it  and stamped the image in black.  It gave a wonderful look of a sunset behind the trees.  I layered the image on dark blue cardstock.

I also wanted to use my new trees embossing folder.  This was a bit tricky getting the angle that I wanted and still fitting the paper in the folder/Big Shot.  I rubbed dark blue over the embossing and around the edges of the decorative paper.  It came out looking like a deep hunter green.  I layered this on top of a different green decorative paper, then on top of the dark blue card base.

I cut and embossed pine cones using gold paper and a Spellbinder die.  Then I rubbed on some copper Brilliance ink and some dark brown Stazon.  I buffed them lightly to remove some of the ink, them adhered them to the card with popdots.  I also added a snowflake from a Martha Stewart punch to give it a more wintery look.

I entered this card in the following challenges:
