I was shopping the other day and saw these cute little magnets and this was the inspiration for my card.  We always keep a big calendar on the front of our refrigerator, held up with magnets.  I thought it would be a great idea to have a set of magnets that not only held up the calendar, but could also be used as reminders of special events.

The card base was created with rust colored cardstock, embossed with an embossing folder.  Versamark was run over the raised design and heat embossed with Sparkle embossing powder.  This was layered on the teal base.  Then small monthly calendars from designer cardstock were edged with ink, and then distressed with Versamark and Shazam embossing powder (see Distressed Embossing Powder Technique).  These were added to the card front.

To make the little magnets, I stamped the images and die cut them with Spellbinders’ square die and layered on a slightly larger coordinating piece of cardstock covered with Super Adhesive.  The remaining exposed adhesive was covered with Starfire glitter.  These were layered on heavy chipboard and then covered with Versamark and Super Thick Clear embossing powder.  I repeated this process two more times, creating a thick, shiny, lacquered look.  Magnet was added to the back.

To get them to stick to the tag, I had to get creative.  I headed to the local hardware store to get some metal but could not find anything that worked.  I ended up using blades from a utility knife (the sweet lady helping me actually just handed me hers that had extra blades in it).  They were adhered with Super Adhesive and then covered with more Super Adhesive and a strip of magnet (I didn’t want anyone to get cut!).

The sentiment is from the Happy Birthday set and die cut with the Copenhagan die from Sue Wilson’s Scandinavian Collection.

We hope you enjoy this Mini Reveal as much as we have enjoyed creating new projects for it.  And hopefully, we have inspired you as well.

Thanks for joining us and remember to comment on each of the Designers' blogs to be eligible for the Grand Prize.  (We love reading your comments as they inspire us as well.)

The next stop on our blog hop is Diane.
Hop on over to see her wonderful project.

Marie - This makes me happy! I love the layers and the texturing and embossing, and glittering on all your pieces. Plus, the lacquering on your magnet squares is great! Your colors and everything are really fun. Love it!

It's a good sign when someone sees your project and says . " I want those!" It's such a great idea for those tiny stamps we all have in our stash. I also think I should put Super Adhesive on my wish list. Seems like a good product that I should have on hand. TFS! Hugs, kReN
