Swirls and Embossed Resist

This has turned into a very busy summer.  I can’t seem to stay home!!  I have been having a wonderful time spending time with my sister, Karla.  She came back with me from Omaha and we spent a weekend at Scrapbook Creations with all my buddies celebrating birthdays.  Then we headed to Charleston to spend a few days with my daughter, Sarah.  We enjoyed great food, relaxing time on the beach, and some great Jazz (compliments of Sarah’s boyfriend).  We have only few more days before Karla heads home so we are making the most of them but I decided to take a few moments to share a card with you.

This card uses the Sparkle N Sprinkle Swirls set, one of my newest favorites.  I created the background piece using the Embossed Resist Technique in the SNS Tips and Techniques section.  I used White Detail Embossing Powder and Spun Sugar ink.  This piece was cut into three sections, layered and added to the base card.  The same resist technique was used for the sentiment.  It was cut out with a Spellbinders’ Label die.  By sponging the ink on while it was still in the die, it created a white border around the edge.  This was layered on a brown decorative die cut and popped up in the middle of the card.

The butterfly is embossed in white on vellum, punched out with a perforating tool, and added to the card front, along with pearl swirls and three handmade coffee filter flowers (see Frilly Coffee Filter Flowers in Tips and Techniques).  All the details to make this card can be found in the my SNS Gallery here.

Just a reminder that there are still a few days to enter the July Monthly Challenge at the SNS Creative Challenges Blog.  Sparkle N Sprinkle is also having a Design Team Call.  Get all the details here.

Thanks for stopping by!!

How beautiful this card is, Marie - and you have used so many techniques, and a very pretty layout/sketch. Would you believe I have tried a few times to do the white resist technique and have failed miserably? I need to try with some different products. Your card is GORGEOUS. hugs, de
