I meant for this to be
posted sooner, but somehow I didn’t set something right and it didn’t
post. Well, better late than never. This is another card using the Dreamweaver
stencils with glitter.
I have to admit, when we
were first told we were going to work with stencils this month, I wasn’t too
sure about it. I really have only dry
embossed with stencils. I have really
enjoyed using them with glitter and also with embossing paste.
For this card, I used Dreamweaver’s
Long Stem Iris stencil on sticker
paper (see Glitter
Stencil Background Technique). I
masked off the stem sections and added glitter to the flowers, using Daisy
Velvet in the center and Purple
Rain Velvet on the outer petals.
Then I removed the masking and added Mountain
Mint Velvet to the stem and leaves.
After removing the stencil, I added Cloud
Nine Velvet glitter to the remaining adhesive.
I added the glittered panel
to two slightly larger layers of white cardstock and adhered this to the center
of the card front. Then I ran 1/2"
Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape down both sides of the card and
added die cut borders on top. The
borders are Cheery Lynn Designs’ Anastasia Border. Purple
Rain Velvet glitter was added to any exposed adhesive.
The sentiment, from the Garden
Silhouette stamp set, was heat embossed with Concord
Star embossing powder. After die
cutting it with a die from Spellbinders
Fancy Framed Tags Two, it was popped up with dimensionals.
This is a really fun and
easy technique to create such lovely, sparkly designs. I hope you have been inspired to try it.
