I meant for this to be posted sooner, but somehow I didn’t set something right and it didn’t post. Well, better late than never. This is another card using the Dreamweaver stencils with glitter.
I have to admit, when we were first told we were going to work with stencils this month, I wasn’t too sure about it. I really have only dry embossed with stencils. I have really enjoyed using them with glitter and also with embossing paste.
For this card, I used Dreamweaver’s Long Stem Iris stencil on sticker paper (see Glitter Stencil Background Technique). I masked off the stem sections and added glitter to the flowers, using Daisy Velvet in the center and Purple Rain Velvet on the outer petals. Then I removed the masking and added Mountain Mint Velvet to the stem and leaves. After removing the stencil, I added Cloud Nine Velvet glitter to the remaining adhesive.
I added the glittered panel to two slightly larger layers of white cardstock and adhered this to the center of the card front. Then I ran 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape down both sides of the card and added die cut borders on top. The borders are Cheery Lynn Designs’ Anastasia Border. Purple Rain Velvet glitter was added to any exposed adhesive.
The sentiment, from the Garden Silhouette stamp set, was heat embossed with Concord Star embossing powder. After die cutting it with a die from Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags Two, it was popped up with dimensionals.
This is a really fun and easy technique to create such lovely, sparkly designs. I hope you have been inspired to try it.
