Tulips and You

I recently spent some time with my friend, Kim, and we were both working on cards.  I was finishing up a card for the SNS upcoming blog hop and it was a bit complex (when you see it, you will understand).  Kim informed me that I was incapable of making a simple card – that it was a special talent I just didn’t have (yes, we are still friends because she really was teasing, plus I already knew this).  I decided to tackle one, with her standing over me and holding me back from doing anything extra.

I used Sparkle N Sprinkle’s new Tulip set

and a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

I “simply” heat embossed the image twice with Christmas Fire EP and colored them with alcohol markers.  Then I “simply” layered them on red cardstock and added them to the white card front and the red card base.  The sentiment is “simply” stamped and layered and added to the card front.  Then I stopped!!  I know Kim will be so proud of me.

Oh, I did use one very special technique – scorching.  Actually I was using Kim’s heat tool and I think it is hotter than mine and scorched my paper.  It gave it a bit of an aged look so I decided to do some more scorching.  Ok, I don’t think this will be a “hot” technique that will become super popular, but I liked how it turned out.

Don’t forget to come back on Thursday, May 9 to see my “not so simple” project for the Sparkle N Sprinkle At The Beach Blog Hop.

Nicely done Marie. I know another gal who can't quite manage simple, but she always makes beautiful cards. Check out her blog, I believe you are kindred spirits! http://creativelyartsygallery.blogspot.com/

Beautiful card! Amazing coloring!
And I do think the scorching can catch on if we come up with a cool name and call it a "technique"!!! :D
Great job lady!

Oh, Marie, were we cut from the same length of fabric? I find it difficult, too. Your tulip is VERY gorgeous, and I want to CASE it. Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for inspiring me. hugs, de
