Sparkle N Sprinkle's At The Beach Blog Hop

Welcome to Sparkle N Sprinkle’s “At The Beach” Blog Hop.  If you came from
Donna Ellis’ blog, you are in the right place but if you are just stopping by, you might want to head over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog and start at the beginning to get all of the details.

The hop runs from Thursday, May 9 through Friday, May 10 and the winners will be announced on Saturday, May 11.  Visit each of the designers’ blog to see their take on our theme and leave a comment for a chance at one of the prizes.  Three of the prizes are “hidden” on 3 different mystery designer blogs and the grand prize is a stamp set of your choice.

Here is the designer list:

Marie Berquist (you are here!!)

My first card uses SNS’ new Serena Mermaid set.  After heat embossing her with Dark Night EP on watercolor paper, I colored her with watercolor pencils and cut her out.  I layered her next to a die cut window popped up over some decorative Basic Grey cardstock and the sweet little seahorse.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch to create the shell borders.  For detailed instructions on this card you can visit the SNS gallery here.

My second card is my “not so simple” easel card (see my May 6 post for explanation) using an older but adorable Pigs on Parade set.  I used a combination of dry and wet embossing for the background paper on the card front.  The sparkling waves are created by using the Glitter Masking Technique with Pistachio Glitter and Cobalt Glaze Velvet Glitter.  The Cannon Ball pig image is colored with alcohol markers, die cut using the Out of Bounds/Out of the Box Nesties technique, and added to the front with a Wobble

The card opens to reveal a sandy beach, created with Hit the Beach EP, perfect for sun bathing.  This little pig is popped up on a soft towel of Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter, created with a combination of the Stamping On Glitter technique and Copics on Glitter technique.  Go here for the detailed instructions.

I know the designers have many more wonderful ideas to share so it is time to head over to Cindy Keogh’s blog.  You will love what she has to show you!!

Don’t forget to leave a comment before you leave so you qualify for a chance at one of the great prizes!!

Happy hoppin’ !!

Hi, Marie! Two fabulous card designs. You always utilize the most interesting border punches and details - love those scallops used as waves - and fabulous glittery circles in the background - that piggy card is amazing! LOVE IT. Serena looks so pleasantly happy with her friend the seahorse. Wonderful card with beautiful shading. I love what you have done on both cards, Marie. hugs, de

Hi Marie, I love the glitter and the waves - never thought of using a scallop for waves and now I can't wait to try it. I also love the seashore (is that really a word?) border. I love borders and that one is the frosting on the cake! Thanks for sharing.

I like the soft backgroud color for the mermaid. Really makes her 'pop'. The pigs looks like they are 'tickled pink' to be on your card. Very cute. Thanks for sharing.

Both cards are pretty. I love the mermaid at the window to the sea and of course what can you say about a cute little pig except that I love the background with all the embossing.

I've seen that M.S. border punch & couldn't come up with any ideas so now you've given me an idea for it.
When I saw the pig I thought this gal is off her beach rocker! Then I moved on down your page & now I must say that is one very creative card. Love the suntanning pig. Too darn cute!

The mermaid card is an inspiration to me because I like look of watercolors but have a hard time using them, so your idea of using watercolor pencils is great.
