Good Things In Life

I took a little drive this week to meet with one of my friends, Bonnie, and the colors on the trees are so pretty.  I love this time of year and the inspiration it gives.  I want to share a card using the Sparkle N Sprinkles new set, Fall Harvest.

This card uses the Basket of Apples image and a sentiment from the Fall Harvest Set, along with a lot of velvet glitters and dry embossing.  Head on over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog to see more details.

Have a great week!!

Snowman With Heart

I just purchased some new Grand Spellbinders and decided to use them to make a shaped card.  I used the dies for the white card base and the blue layer.

The Snowman With Heart image is one of Sparkle N Sprinkle’s digital stamps by Michelle Perkett.  I printed it in black but formatted the image to separate the sentiment.  I colored him with alcohol markers and added some of the new Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter, using a glue pen (see Accenting with Glitter in Tips and Techniques).  Before adding the three little brads, I added some Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter (see Bling Your Brads, also in the TNT section).  When they were dry I sponged the edges lightly with blue ink.  I used more of the Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter around the sentiment and the cute little snowflakes are actually Tear-ific tape on cardstock, die cut with this cute little flower center die.  After cutting them out, I removed the protective layer and add the Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter.

I am really enjoying these new Velvet Glitters from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  They feel so awesome and have an amazing sparkle.

Thank you for visiting my blog!!

Fall Harvest

Fall is such a lovely time of the year and Sparkle N Sprinkles’ new Fall Harvest Set is all about Fall.  When I saw the Basket of Apples image, I was instantly reminded of a recent field trip with my kindergarten class to a local apple orchard called Sky Top.  We had a beautiful day and enjoyed learning about apples, taking a hayride around the orchard, and picking our favorite apples.  This memory is the inspiration for this card.

I used an embossing folder on the top layer of this card and sponged the embossing with fall colors of ink.  I added Autumn Medley Glitter to the leaves and Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter to the bush on the left before distressing the edges of all the layers and adding them to a sienna card front.

I stamped the Basket of Apples with Rich Cocoa Memento ink on cream cardstock and colored it with alcohol markers.  I colored them red because my favorite apples are red delicious.  I cut it out, added a touch of Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter to the apples, and popped it up on the embossed card front.

The sentiment is from the Fall Harvest sentiment set and heat embossed with Winter Berry EP and cut out with a Spellbinder die.

Make sure you visit the other SNS designers to see some fantastic samples from all of the new sets.  Don’t forget to check out all the current SNS specials here and here.

More Exciting News!!

I have more exciting news today!!  No, my other daughter is not getting married.  This is Sparkle and Sprinkle news!!  Today we are introducing three new sets and I know you are going to love them!!

First let me introduce you to our newest set of Michelle Perkett images in rubber.

The next two sets are perfect for the upcoming holidays – one for Fall and one for Christmas!!

Don’t you just love them?!!  I have really enjoyed working with the Fall Harvest set and want to share a card with you.

I love this Cornucopia image and stamped it with Rich Cocoa Memento ink on a piece of white cardstock covered with 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ificTape" and Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter.  This new glitter is so smooth and so easy to stamp on.  I colored it with alcohol markers, cut it out, and added it to the front of the card.  The window on the card is created with a die cut and the sentiment, GiveThanks, is embossed with Log Cabin EP onto a smaller pumpkin and popped up in the center.  The lovely flourish is die cut and covered with Green Nugget glitter.  For full details of this card visit the SNS gallery.

Check back tomorrow for another sample.

She Is Engaged!!!

I have been working on my special card all week and finally finished it.  I also promised you some exciting news and here it is – My daughter is engaged!!  I am so excited for her and my card is for her and her fiancé.

The front of the card has layers of white, teal, and glitter.  I used two different corner border punches, along with a Spellbinder Die and an embossing folder.  I used "Tear-ific Tape" to add added the new Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter to the edges with the heart border.

Since they are both musicians, it was very important to incorporate something musical.  I heat embossed the Music Background with Silver Pearl Embossing Powder on a white square that shows through the Clear Embossable Acetate of the picture frame created with a Spellbinder Die and layers of white and teal.  It is popped up with foam tape on only three sides, leaving the top open so their engagement picture can be slid in behind the acetate.  The Congratulation from the Congratulations Trio was heat embossed with Poolside Embossing Powder on the front of the acetate.

I created a large bow with some lovely decorative sheer ribbon and added it to the top left corner, along with some handmade roses.  I sponged the two smaller roses with a little pink ink and added glitter to all of the flowers, using Brushable Glue.

For the inside of the card I added more punched layers. I embossed the Music Background in Silver Pearl again, but also added the Solid Monarch in a few places.  I added teal cardstock covered with the same ribbon across the center.   The hearts are cut with Spellbinder dies and their names are written with a Penboss Marker and embossed with Poolside EP.  The final touch was to add tiny pink pearls to the punched border on both the front and the inside.

Here is the final card.  I hope this will be a keepsake for them of this exciting time in their lives.

Wishing You Well

Here is another card that will be sent to the soldiers.  Sweet Stamps’ challenge this week was to use a brayered background and I really love all the different ways you can use a brayer.  Wanting to stay with the requested simpler card, I decided to stamp with Versamark Ink on white glossy cardstock, using the newer Blossoms image.  I brayered over this using Rhubarb Stalk Memento Ink, which brought out the image.

The image in the center is Sweet Stamps’ Wishing Well, also stamped with Rhubarb Stalk, and die cut with a Spellbinders’ Labels 1 die.  I framed this with a Lattice 2 die cut from Cheery Lynn Designs.

This was a great weekend and the temp has really cooled off.  I am off to make a very special card and an exciting announcement (at least for me) so see you again soon.

Happy Hopper Birthday

Today is World Card Making Day and so I wanted to share another card I made using the same stamp as my previous post, but with a completely different look and theme.  I am using It's My Party Happy Hopper stamp from House Mouse Designs.

The image is colored with alcohol markers and cut out with a Spellbinders’ Oval Nestability, layered on a yellow scalloped Nestability.  I added this back onto the original piece of cardstock and layered it on the lovely designer paper from Basic Gray.  The little yellow corners behind the image are cut from a die cut frame, Lace Rectangle and Flowers Craftable Die, from Marianne’s Designs.

World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day and so my friend, Kim, invited several of us over to make cards for the soldiers.  These will be sent to the troops so they have cards they can send home to family members.  To make these easier to send, I tried to keep them simpler.

My first card is using one of those precious House Mouse Designs stamps.  I had actually set out one to take with me with the perfect Autumn theme, but moved a few things around in my craftroom and misplaced it.  Kim let me dig through her stamps and I found this cute It's My Party Happy Hopper stamp.  It is really a birthday image but I decided to get creative and make it fit my needs.

After coloring the image, I cut it out and added it inside the pumpkin shaped window created with a Spellbinders’ die.  I die cut smaller pumpkins, added some color and dimension, and added a cute face to the larger one that I tucked under the Hopper’s arms.  I added some Fall leaves, cut and embossed with another Spellbinders die from some white cardstock colored with Memento Inks using the direct to paper technique.  The sentiment is stamped on a little green sign created with a die from Marianne’s Designs called Lamp & Sign Dies.  The orange, green, and purple cardstock are all from Basic Grey.

I will be back with more cards.

Thankful

Last night was our monthly stamp club meeting and we were playing with shoeboxes – one of our favorite things to do.  Everyone creates a themed card and brings all the supplies for everyone to make their card.  We pass these around and spend the evening making each other’s. cards.  Such fun!!

Our theme was two types of texture.  For my card I used a dry embossed background and added a “hay bale” made with drywall tape and embossing powders.  I colored the tape with permanent ink and added it to a piece of cream cardstock.  After trimming the edges and rounding the corners, I stippled it with VersaMark Ink and sprinkled on some Antique Gold and Buttercup Petal EP.  The image is from Sparkle N Sprinkles Harvest-Pumpkins set and the sentiment is from the Fall Leaves Stampette Set.  I added some greenery by using a Lacey Pumpkin Corner Flourish die.  You can find detailed instructions here.

Happy Fall Ya’ll!!

“COW”ABUNGA For Sparkle N Sprinkle Sketch Challenge

Fall is here and October has snuck up on us.  This means it is time for a new monthly challenge at Sparkle N Sprinkle and we have a brand new Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges Blog (http://sparklensprinklecreativechallenges.blogspot.com/).

Before I share the new challenge, I want to congratulate our August winner,

Katy Drogos.

Check back on the SNS blog for details on how to get your prize.

The October Challenge is based on a sketch.

For my card I decided to use another Michelle Perkett digital image, Cal the California Surfing Cow.  I printed this in black and colored with alcohol markers.  It is layered on a background using an embossing folder and a combination of the Faux Patina Technique and the EP Cosmos Technique, in the SNS Tips and Techniques, using the dry embossing, inking, and adding clear super thick EP.  You can find the details here.

You have until October 31 to enter to this challenge.  Now head on over to the new Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges to find all the challenge details and requirements, along with more inspiration from my fellow designers, including many of our new designers that have just joined us!!
