Rub On Resisit

I have had so much fun the last few weeks creating with my friends.  Last weekend we all went to our favorite scrapbook store, Scrapbook Creations, for a whole day of play.  My friend, Cheryl, even came from Charlotte.  My birthday had been earlier that week and I have to say that I have the best friends!!  They fed me and showered me with gifts, and Kim even brought her delicious brownies.  The best gift was that they all took their day to come and spend time together.  Thank you, ladies!!

April showed me this wonderful technique she learned from Tim Holtz, using rub ons.  We had so much fun with this.

I started with a piece of cream cardstock and added distress inks.  Next I added the rub ons – a leafy branch, a brown doily, and a small dragon fly.  Using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink, I stamped the Music Scrap, along with the little birds and feather from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Bird Song set, overlapping the rub ons.  Then I simply wiped the ink off of the rub on to make it look like the image is behind it.

I added the Bird Nest image layered on a Spellbinders’ Fancy Tags Three die and the sentiment on Spellbinders’ Back to Basics Tag die, along with a seam binding bow.  Using a glue pen, I added small amounts of Starfire glitter to each of the feathers and the dragonfly wings.

This is such a great technique and now I am constantly on the lookout for new rub ons.  You can see a tag that April made here.  I will definitely be doing this again.

I’ll be back with more, soon!!

Swirl Flower on Vellum

Well, Summer has arrived but thank goodness it hasn’t been horribly hot here.  It was actually pretty nice this weekend.

Sparkle N Sprinkle just released a new set called Swirls and I am absolutely in love with it.  One of my favorite techniques is white embossing on vellum and these delicate images are perfect for this so that is the first thing I did with it.

I used the largest flower image and heat embossed it with White Detail EP on heavier vellum.  I used a perforating tool and punched it out instead of cutting it out with a scissors.  This leaves a lacy looking edge.  I sponged the back with pink ink and layered it on a white Designer Doily die cut from Marianne Designs Creatables and white and pink die cut squares using LifeSyle’s Nesting Square Dies and Nesting Doily Square Dies.

I used Couture Creations Exotic Embossing Folder on the top layer of the card base and sponged it lightly with pink ink.  The only embellishment is some pink seam binding ribbon with a bow.

Have a wonderful week!!
