Sparkle N Sprinkle Ghosts & Goblins Fall Frolic Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Ghosts & Goblins Fall Frolic Blog Hop!  The weather here has cooled off nicely and one of my students even brought me a lovely red leaf this week, so Fall is definitely around the corner.  A perfect time for a blog hop full of Ghosts and Goblins and everything Fall.  I am your first stop along the way so let’s kick things off!!

If you just happened to stop by, you will want to head over to the SparkleN Sprinkle Blog to get all of the details.  You have the chance to win any of FIVE great prizes.  All you need to do is visit each of the designers’ blogs and leave a comment.  The hop runs from Thursday, Sept. 20 – Friday, Sept. 21.  Winners will be announced on Saturday, July 22nd.

Here is the line-up for the hop:

Marie Berquist (That’s Me!!)

Now that we have all of that out of the way, let’s get to what you really want to see!!  I have two cards to share with you.

My first card is fairly simple, using the adorable Kitty Witch, along with the Fall Is In The Air sentiment.  I used a premade black card front with the little bats already punched out, but it could be easily made from a piece of black cardstock and any punch.  I added a piece of "Tear-ific" Tape behind the opening and added Starfire Glitter.  Then I used an embossing folder to add the tree and heat embossed the image in white.  Sponging the tree and around the edges with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink made the background look lighter, reminding me of a foggy, spooky night.  I embossed the sentiment with Indian Corn EP (isn’t that a great name) and added it with some wrapped fiber that reminded me of a spider web.  You can find full instructions on this card here.

I love tags, but don’t seem to make them very often.  My second card features one created with drywall tape and washi tape.  This is a technique I have had on the back burner for a while, but was reminded of it when I saw it on another blog.  Check out this technique in Tips and Techniques at the SNS website.

I used Eve’s Sunflower and some of the leaves from the Fall Leaves Stampette Set, coloring them with stains, fussy cutting, and shaping them with a stylus.

I trimmed off some of the petals from one of the sunflowers and layered them to add dimension, along with some Autumn Fire Glitter Tinsel and Sparkling Coffee Sparkle N Soft.  The sentiment is Second Spring.  For final touches I added a bow and die cut flourishes.  You can see full details of this card here.

Now it is time to head over to Karalee’s blog to see what she has waiting for you.  I know you will love it.  Don’t forget to leave a comment before you leave so you have a chance at a prize.

Just a reminder that through the end of the month Halloween, Thanksgiving & Fall images are on special at 15% off.  To view all our specials, which also include a few glitters, embossing powders and flocking - just click here.

Also, you still have until September 30th to enter the September Sketch Challenge.  Check out the details and sketch here.

Thank you so much for hopping by and I hope you really enjoy what all the designers have to share with you.

Loss Of A Pet

I am going to keep this short because I played in my craftroom too long and it is now very late (or should I say early?).  Tomorrow is the start of a very fun weekend.  My friend, and now a fellow designer for SNS, is coming into town and a whole group of us will spend the weekend playing together and going to the Stamp Scrap Art Tour Stamp Convention.  I know I won’t be getting very much sleep but will enjoy the time!!

Earlier this week the lady I work for lost her dog.  She had him a long time and he was quite old, but it still was very sudden.  I had just received the new Sparkle N Sprinkle stampette set, Pet Sympathy.  I just had to stay up and make her a card.

This image is stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and colored with markers.  I used a glitter pen to add sparkle to the wings and halo.  I cut it out and add it to the center of a scalloped circle, punched from sticker paper.  I added Shimmering Sea glitter, layered it on a slightly larger scalloped circle in burnt orange, and attached it to the card front with a Wobble.  The designer paper on the card front came from a pack of cute pet themed cardstock, along with some lovely striped paper from Basic Grey called Bradford, from their Pyrus collection.

The sentiment is stamped in Rich Cocoa and die cut with a Spellbinders’ tag die.  I added it with some brown seam binding ribbon and added a few jewels.

Hope your weekend is as great as mine is going to be!!

E. Marie

Fun In The Sun

Today’s card is another fun summer card (guess I wasn’t quite ready for Fall).  I used one of the Michelle Perkett digital stamps from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Molly.  I printed her in black and colored her with alcohol markers.  Though it doesn’t show very well in the picture, her towel is covered with four different colored flocking (Autumn Sparkle Sparkle N Soft, Sun Dazzle Sparkle N Soft, Pink Spirit Sparkle N Soft, and Turquoise Flocking).  I also popped up a few of the flowers on her bathing suite.

The sparkling background is created using VersaMark ink and the Direct To Paper technique.  Then I sprinkled on some Hit the Beach embossing powder and heat set.  I created the yellow flower with a die and shaped it with a stylus.  Then I punched the word “Fun” out from a second printed image, using a flower punch.

Full details on making this card can be found in the SNS Gallery here.

This image can also be purchased as an individual rubber stamp or part of the new Beach Babes set.

Hugs,

E. Marie

It's A Beautiful Day

Sparkle N Sprinkle recently released four new sets.  Beach Babes includes three adorable images designed by Michelle Perkett as digital images. If you prefer to stamp with rubber, you can now get all three of these girls of summer in this great set.

One of my favorite card types is a Center Step Card.  I added cardstock and a sticker frame from Basic Grey’s Lauderdale set, surrounded by strips of 1/8” and 1/4" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" covered with Parisian Mist and Priceless Peacock glitter.  This created the perfect setting for Penny.

I spread some of the Breeze Sea Glass Mudd Puddles over the bottom third of the image before adding the frame.  The sentiment is from the Girls of Summer Set and is layered at the bottom of the frame with some sparkly waves created by using flourish dies and 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape".

Head on over to the SNS blog for more details on this card.

I have to say a big thank you to my friend, Kim, who put up with my indecisiveness and gave me her thoughtful opinion as I put this card together.  Signs of a true friend!!

Bibbity Bobbity Boo

It is still pretty hot around here so I am ready for some Fall weather.  I guess I will have to settle for some Fall images for now.

Today’s card uses the Michelle Perkett’s Bibbity Bobbity Boo Digital Stamp from SparkleN Sprinkle. It is colored with alcohol markers and added to layers of green, purple, and orange with polka dots on a black card base.  The sentiment is punched and layered on 2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific" Tape and Black Ice glitter is added.  Layered acetate swirls stickers and green jewels are added to this simple, sweet Halloween card.

For full details on how to make this card can be found in the Sparkle and Sprinklegallery.  Our Ghosts and Goblins Fall Frolic Blog Hop is right around the corner and will be filled with lots of great Fall inspiration.

Thanks for coming by!!

E. Marie

Sparkle N Sprinkle September Sketch Challenge

Wow!!  I can’t believe it is September already.  I have survived the first 8 days of school with 30 little kindergarten children.   I have to admit it is nice to have a long weekend in front of me.  Well, it is time for a new sketch challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog.  Here is the new sketch.

Pull out your Sparkle N Sprinkle stamps and get creative for a chance to win a stamp set of your choice.  Link your card here before the end of the month.

For my card sample I used one of the new Michelle Perkett digital images, Snow Family With Sign.  I printed it in black and added grey shadowing around the entire image.

Then I added some touches of red and Twinkling Clouds Sparkle N Soft.  After cutting the image out with a Spellbinders’ die, I edged it with Fire Engine Red Glitter.

I layered it on a white embossed background with a cute “belt” using black ribbon and a pop tab for a buckle.

Head on over to the SNS Blog for all the challenge details and see some great samples from fellow designers, Karalee and Shona.

Congratulations to Aurora Christina for winning the August Sketch Challenge!!
