House Mouse Birthday

Today we celebrated another birthday at Scrapbook Creations.  We are so lucky to have a place like this to gather.  April, the birthday gal, has a African theme throughout her home.  I found these great party goods at our fantastic Mighty Dollar and I loved that it combined the black zebra stripe with the bright pink since April is also very much the southern lady (yes, I do wonder why she hangs with the rest of us). 

House Mouse is one of April’s favorites so I decided to make a card that would coordinate with our color theme.  After stamping and coloring with Spectrum Noir markers, I die cut it with Spellbinders Octagonal die and popped it up on a black scalloped octagon.  The background is pink dotted Bazzill cardstock layered on black and the white card base.  The black borders are created with a Martha Stewart Deep Edge punch.

To keep the card more feminine, I used Cheery Lynn’s Miniature Rose die to create some pink flowers and added some black leafy flourishes with their Fanciful Flourish. 

The House Mouse and Friend’s Challenge theme this week is Birthday with a Sentiment so I decided to add a little surprise to the card.  

When you gently pull on the leafy flourish you find this special birthday message.

We had a really great time and April was kind enough to let me borrow her card to take a picture so I could share it with you.
