Welcome Autumn

The weather was quite chilly this weekend and the cool mornings definitely have the feel of fall.  I love the colors of fall and these on today’s card.

I started with the lovely fall image from the new Welcome Autumn set, stamping two but coloring only one.  Both images were cut into strips and woven together.  This was one of those ideas that popped in my head and I just had to try it.  Next time I think I will color both images and maybe ink the edges of each strip.  What do you think?

After weaving, the image was adhered to a white card base to hold it together.  Then pieces of burlap and orange and yellow cardstock were layered together and die cut with Spellbinders’ Labels One to create a window.  The inside and outside edges of the burlap were sponged with Rich Cocoa Memento ink, then heat embossed with Teddy Brown embossing powder using the Distressed Embossing Powder techniqueVersamark ink was added to the edges a second time and they were dipped in Bronze Splendor glitter.  Heat was applied to re-melt the embossing powder so the glitter would stay in place.  All of this was popped up over the image.

I created the flowers by stamping the largest sunflower from the new Sunflower set.  I stamped it nine times, colored, and fussy cut.  Three images were cut out complete but petals were removed from the others.  After shaping them with a stylus, Cherry Lemonade glitter was added to all the petals, using brushable glue, and they were layered with foam tape to create 3 flowers.  Dimensional glue was added to the centers and covered with Sparkling Coffee Sparkle N Soft.  I love how they came out - watch out Prima!  These were added to the card front, along with loops of corn husk.

The sentiment was heat embossed with Teddy Brown embossing powder on a white strip and layered on yellow.  This was tucked under the bottom flower.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think about the weaving.

  12. I think this is such a fun idea! LOVE the woven image! I think the "spotlight" effect is neat, but I also think if you colored it all it would look cool--especially with shading on each strip! Thanks for joining us at House of Cards! HUGS! :) Mynn xx
